In the village of Shindisi, a targeted program was introduced to the locals
The Deputy Director of the Rural Development Agency, Natalia Kharatishvili, and the Coordinator of the component of the "Sustainable Agriculture, Irrigation, and Land Market Development Project of Georgia," Ilia Tamarashvili, met with locals in the village of Shindisi, Gori Municipality, and introduced the details of the targeted program.
All individuals whose land plots are irrigated by the rehabilitated irrigation system under the "Irrigation and Land Market Development Project of Georgia" will benefit from the "Program for Supporting Agricultural Production on Irrigated Land Plots."
The Rural Development Agency will start accepting applications for the program on October 11, 2024, from 12:00 PM.
Under the program, the state will provide co-financing of up to 40% of one beneficiary's costs, with total funding not exceeding 30,000 (thirty thousand) GEL. Notably, young farmers and members of water user organizations will receive additional percentage co-financing.
The aim of the project is to promote the introduction of climate-smart agricultural practices; therefore, within the program, funding will be provided for the installation of modern irrigation systems, agro-meteorological stations, solar-powered electric stations, and greenhouses for annual crops.
It is noteworthy that the "Program for Supporting Agricultural Production on Irrigated Land Plots" is part of the "Sustainable Agriculture, Irrigation, and Land Project of Georgia," co-financed equally by state funds and a World Bank loan. Within this large-scale project, through similar programs, agricultural production using climate-smart methods in areas with modernized irrigation systems will continue to be supported in the following years.
