The government has decided to implement a program to support agricultural production in the Shida Kartli and Kakheti regions
This program will benefit all individuals whose land plots are irrigated by systems rehabilitated under the "Georgia Irrigation and Land Market Development Project."
The goal of the project is to promote the adoption of climate-resilient agricultural practices. Accordingly, the program will fund the installation of modern irrigation systems, agrometeorological stations, solar-powered electric stations, and greenhouses for annual crops. The program will be implemented by the Rural Development Agency, which operates under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
Under the new program, the government will provide up to 40% co-financing for each beneficiary's expenses, with the total financing not exceeding 30,000 GEL. It is noteworthy that young farmers and members of water user organizations will receive additional percentage co-financing.
A necessary condition for participation in the program is that the agricultural land plot where the project will be implemented must be registered as the beneficiary's property with the National Agency of Public Registry or leased from the state/municipal authority.
It is important to note that this program is part of the "Georgia Resilient Agriculture, Irrigation, and Land Project," which is equally funded by the state and a World Bank loan. Through similar programs within this large-scale project, the production of agricultural products using climate-resilient methods will continue to be supported in the areas covered by modernized irrigation systems in the coming years.
