New hazelnut processing enterprise in Tsalenjikha
The Minister of Agriculture of Georgia Levan Davitashvili together with Levan Shonia, the Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region have acquainted with hazelnut processing working activities of enterprise equipped with modern standards in Tsalenjikha region.
An enterprise owned by the company LTD Geodemos has been established within the Agricultural processing and storing enterprises co-financing Program of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia. The total investment volume that was implemented within the company was US $ 1 150 000, of which 294 167 US $ is a grant, and US $ 367 709 is the Preferential Agro-credit. LTD Geodemos employs over 60 people. The Company produces 550 tons calibrated hazelnut core per year. The products are being exported to EU countries. In the near future the company LTD Geodemos shall acquire the International Standard ISO:22 000 Certificate with the support of Agriculture Project Management Agency and USAID/REAP. ISO:22000 Standard License fee amounts to US $8,980. From the total amount of which US $ 2694 for beneficiary has been funded within the frame of the Agriculture Project Management Agency, US $ 4,490 has been granted by USAID/REAP and the remaining due of 1796 US $ has been covered by the company itself. LTD Geodemos shall receive a Certificate over a period of 3 weeks approximately. The implementation of Governmental support has ensured the additional stimulation in terms of production development and growth. The Agriculture Project Management Agency is implementing the United Agro-project program which is targeted towards long-term development and its main aim is the promotion of the competitiveness in the agricultural field, the steady growth of a high-quality production, provision of food safety / security issues-Levan Davitashvili said. Since the year 2013 the Project Management Agency is implementing various projects in order to establish new enterprises. At this point, presently under the frame of the project it has been funded more than 700 already operating and 153 new-founded enterprises. 20 new enterprises have been launched in Samegrelo region and about 36 enterprises have been expanded.
