New Storage Facility Opened in Bolnisi
Today, Mamuka Kvaratskhelia, Director of Agriculture Projects Management Agency, together with the Deputy Governor of Kvemo Kartli Aleksandre Metreveli opened the agricultural products storage facility Sunny Harvest LTD, equipped in compliance with the modern standards, which was created within the framework of the Unified Agro Project. The storage facility of Sunny Harvest will be able to store 2000 tons of various vegetable crops annually. 25 people are employed in the enterprise. The company is a beneficiary of the Co-financing Project for Agricultural Production Processing and Storage Enterprises. In total, 660,388 US dollars were invested in the enterprise, where 250,000 US dollars in kind of grant and 330,194 US dollars as a preferential agro-credit.
Noteworthy is that in 2018 the company plans to receive the HACCP international standard with the support of the Agricultural Projects Management Agency and USAID/REAP. 50% of the total cost of the international standard will be paid by USAID/REAP, and the beneficiary will pay the remaining 50%.
Since 2013, the Agriculture Projects Management Agency has been implementing various projects for creating new enterprises. Within the projects, preferential loans have been issued for the creation of new enterprises, as well as for the expansion of existing ones. At this stage, more than 750 active and 162 new enterprises have already been financed under the project. The financial support from the state has boosted the entrepreneurs development and expansion. Agricultural Projects Management Agency within the framework of Invest in Georgia project is implementing the Unified Agro Project, which is designed for long-term development and aims to promote the competitiveness of the agricultural sector, to ensure the steady growth of high-quality products, food safety and food security.
