With the support of the rural development program, tourism infrastructure was organized in Tetritskaro municipality
In Asureti village of Tetritskaro municipality, the "Station" company restored a building built at the beginning of the 20th century and arranged a tourism infrastructure, which includes a food facility and several guest rooms. More than 200,000 GEL was invested in order to arrange the mentioned infrastructure, including, the co-financing of the rural development program amounted to 166,000 GEL. Among the 10 locals employed in the food facility, the majority are women.
The director of the Rural Development Agency, Ilia Tamarashvili, and the manager of the UNDP project Improving Rural Development in Georgia, Nodar Kereselidze, inspected the new tourist facility.
"For the Rural Development Agency, it is important to develop the non-agricultural sector in rural areas, along with the agricultural sector. As of today, within the framework of the rural development program, 75 projects have been financed, the total investment value exceeds 10.9 million GEL, the co-financing exceeds 7.6 million GEL," said Ilia Tamarashvili, director of the Rural Development Agency.
According to Nodar Kereselidze, the manager of the UNDP project Improving Rural Development in Georgia, the European Union and the United Nations Development Program support the development and implementation of a European-style rural development policy in Georgia, within the framework of which a grant program was implemented to support agribusinesses and entrepreneurs in rural areas. Within the framework of the program, a number of projects were implemented, which contribute to employment, increase of incomes, and improvement of well-being.
"Rural Development Program" is implemented in the municipalities of Keda, Khulo, Borjomi, Akhalkalaki, Tetritskaro, Kazbegi, Lagodekhi and Dedoplistskaro.
"Rural Development Program" is implemented by the Rural Development Agency (RDA), with the support of the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), within the framework of the "European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development" (ENPARD).
