New orchards will be planted along the demarcation line

New orchards will be planted on the area of 430 hectare in Shida Kartli region. 84 beneficiaries obtained the financing in the amount of 2,881,000.00 GEL within the program Plant the Future of the Agricultural Projects Management Agency. Today, Levan Dolidze, manager of the program Plant the Future of the Agricultural Projects Management Agency together with the acting Governor of Shida Kartli Soso Okromelidze attended the orchard planting process of one of the program beneficiary, Leila Tielidze in the village Zerti, located nearby the demarcation line. Leila Tielidze was included in the program in 2015. She received state funding in the amount of 70,000.00 GEL for planting apples (7 hectares). 65,115.00 GEL from the received finances was purposed for young plants and 4,885.00 GEL for drip systems Sida Kartli: Apples, plums, peaches, cherries and almonds will be planted on the 430 hectares of Gori, Kareli, Kaspi and Khashuri regions until the end of the year. 16 beneficiaries within the nearby territories of the demarcation line have already planted orchards on the area of 74 hectares within the project Plant the Future. The area for planting new orchards and arrangement of irrigation system amounts 1292 hectares on the whole territory of Georgia, while the amount of financing exceeds 6,4 million GEL. Agricultural Projects Management Agency started to implement the program Plant the Future under the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia since 2015. The purpose of the mentioned program is to promote the targeted usage of the agricultural land, plant perennial and nursery gardens in all municipalities of Georgia (except Tbilisi, Rustavi, Batumi, Kutaisi and Poti).State co-financing for the program Plant the Future will be as follows In case of planting the orchard - 70% of plant costs and 50% of dripping system costs; In case of nursery gardens 50 % of the costs for the creation of nursery gardens. 5 million GEL will be spent for the implementation of the program Plant the Future in 2016. Arrangement of modern orchards on the area of 1 000 1 200 hectares and 30 40 new, modern nursery gardens are envisaged under the program Plant the Future. That will promote the process of import replacement in the market and the increase of export potential. Agricultural Projects Management Agency has been implementing large-scale projects since 2013, that are designed for long-term development and is purposed to create the environment that will promote the rise of competitiveness in agriculture, stable increase in the production of high quality products and introduction of International food safety standards.
