In May the floods completely destroyed Roman Mikheilidzes watermelon crops and the incurred damage amounted to GEL 7200, which will be fully paid by the insurance company. He joined the Agro Insurance Programme implemented by the Agricultural Projects Management Agency in spring. Under the Programme Roman Mikheilidze insured 8000 m2 of his watermelon crops. The insurance premium was GEL 840, out of which the Agency paid GEL 504. Today, the Manager of the Agro Insurance Programme of the Agricultural Projects Management Agency, Mr. Levan Maghradze, the members of the local self-government body and the representatives of the Insurance Company Aldagi have met Mr. Roman Mikheilidze and visited the watermelon garden damaged by the excessive precipitation. More than 4 thousand people from Kakheti region are involved in the Agro Insurance Programme implemented by the Agricultural Projects Management Agency, out of whom 156 farmers live in Lagodekhi region. In May, 17 beneficiaries of the Programme were damaged by the excessive precipitation. The insurance companies checked the flooded lands of 10 farmers and the estimated the damage, which amounted to GEL 18000. The insurance companies will prepare final opinion by the end of June, after which appropriate compensation will be paid to the farmers.
