New orchard has been arranged in Shida Kartli region
One more new orchard has been arranged by the cooperative Surami-2017 in Shida Kartli region, Khashuri district within the scopes of the project Plant the Future.
Mr. Levan Dolidze, the manager of the project Plant the Future of the Agricultural Projects Management Agency, Mr. Ioseb Okromelidze, the Deputy Governor of Shida Kartli region and representatives of local government visited the orchard of cooperative Surami-2017 - one of the beneficiaries of the program. Surami-2017 joined the program in 2016 year and planted the berry-plantation (blackberry/raspberry) on 2 hectares and apple orchard on 5 hectares and received 61 075 state funding; mentioned sum included 12 250 GEL for arrangement of irrigation system while 48 825 GEL was designated for seedlings.
According to the data of the March of 2017 year, orchards of perennial cultures was arranged in Shida Kartli region on 1 065 hectares and granted financing amounted to 6 865 242 GEL. The cultivated area throughout Georgia for new orchards and irrigation system covers 3 343 ha and the grants awarded amounted to 16 368 274 million GEL.
