Giorgi Gharibashvili, who is a professional builder, is from Tetritskaro Region. He devoted most years of his life to the construction work. At the age of 59 he made a strong decision to radically change his life, returned to the place of his ancestors and purchased land plots near the river bank in the village of Sagharasheni. He built a house and settled there with his family. There he came up with the idea of a trout farm. Giorgi Gharibashvili stated that he decided to establish Algoti LTD because he got tired of the construction work and wanted to start up his own business.

At the age of 58 he moved to and tried himself in a completely different area. He comprehensively familiarized with the information and the specifications of a trout farm. At first he made a young fish tank on the purchased land, where he was breeding fish. At the same time he learned about a preferential agro-credit from his friends and decided to participate in the programme. He acquired financing and made a trout farm. Currently, he is purchasing fertilized fish eggs, which undergo the incubation period in the trout farm. After 9 months, the adult trout is sold in the shops in Georgia.

He likes to talk about his trout farm. He says that the river water is so cold and clean that only trout can breed at that temperature and therefore, he is not breeding other fish species. Georgian traditional trout, as well as so-called ‘golden trout’ and many other species of trout are bred at the trout farm of Algoti LTD. Giorgi Gharibashvili says: “fresh air, clean river water, the trout farm near natural and organ conditions results in the formation of the taste of the fish.”

A father to two sons and a grandfather to four grandchildren is hopeful about the future of his children and grandchildren. He gladly mentions that one son is already engaged in the family business, and he hopes that the others will also follow him.

The modern trout farm in the village of Sagharasheni, new technologies, employed people and a quality product delivered to customers are Giorgi Gharibashvili’s main accomplishments.
