The project "Modernization of professional education system in Georgian agriculture" (VET) will be implemented by Rural Development Agency

To the conference held with regard to start of new phase of project implementation were attended the Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia – Tengiz Nasaridze, the Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara – Zaza Shavadze, the manager of United Nations Development Program “Modernization of Professional Education and Extension in Georgian Agriculture” – Elene Tskhakaia and the Project Coordinator of the Swiss Cooperation Office in the South Caucasus – Teimuraz Khomeriki.  

"It is important to note, that two phases of the project  “Modernization of Professional Education and Extension in Georgian Agriculture” (VET) has already ben implemented by United Nations Development Program, within of which, our extension services got an important technical support. Implementor of the third phase will be directly the Rural Development Agency. This is very complex project, which includes as the training of the extension staff, as well maximum accessibility of the best modern practice for the farmers and  popularization of the modern approaches, which will ensure high productivity and quality improvement of agricultural products", -  stated Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia – Tengiz Nasaridze. 

Objective of the project “Modernization of Professional Education and Extension in Georgian Agriculture” is support of improvement of the agricultural extension service quality, that implies increase of accessability on the information about innovative and climate-smart technologies and establishment of digital extension services. 

Within the conference, was signed the memorandum between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and the Rural Development Agency. Cooperation between the bodies considers share of the experience of the relevant services of Rural Development Agency for the farmers residing in the Republic of Adjara in order of strengthening of the extension service. The memorandum was signed by the director of the Rural Development Agency – Davit Tsitladze and the Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara – Zaza Shavadze.
