Program o promote sale of non-standard apple is actively underway

Mr. Giorgi Khanishvili, First Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, together with Mr. Nugzar Samkharadze, Deputy Governor of Shida Kartli Region visited the fruit processing company GSK Kula, where they were acquainted with the process of producing non-standard apples.

The GSK Kula is a company registered in the Coordination Headquarters for Promoting the Sale of Non-Standard Apples.

"Currently, more than 2,000 tons of non-standard apples have been processed by 9 companies involved in the program to promote the sale of non-standard apples. It should be emphasized the fact that from year to year the situation of the Georgian processing sector improves, technical re-equipment and automation takes place, which lowers the cost price of products and makes them competitive on the one hand and on the other hand, it increases the standards by which Georgian products enter the world markets freely," - Mr. Giorgi Khanishvili declared.

According to the Director of the company Mr. Ivane Goglidze, the "GSK Kula" has been involved in the apple delivery process since the beginning of the program. More than 700 tons of apples have already been accepted and processed. The company accepts both non-standard and standard apples. The company has a capacity of processing 200 tons of raw materials per day.

Within the framework of the state program, the Rural Development Agency issues a subsidy of 0.10 GEL for 1 kg of non-standard apples. The state subsidy will be given to fruit processing companies, which will purchase 1 kg of non-standard apples from individuals employed in the fruit growing sector for not less than 0.22 GEL by December 1, 2020.
