Training conducted for bee farmers

The Rural Development Agency organized the training on "Bee Pest Control" for bee farmers. The training was conducted by the trainers of the Professional Beekeepers Association, the Western Georgia Beekeepers Alliance and the Georgian Beekeepers Union.

"Fighting the Varvatos disease is a difficult challenge for beekeepers. As part of the ongoing trainings across the country, beekeepers will gain a thorough knowledge and get acquainted with the latest methodology on how to fight this disease Mr. Lasha Shalamberidze, Head of the Department for Relations with Regions of the Rural Development Agency declared.

The training provides theoretical and practical training and includes familiarity with the identification of bee pests, effective methods of combating them and the use of modern treatment and prophylaxis.

Specially for the training, theoretical material was prepared by the Georgian Beekeepers Union on the recommendations of the National Food Agency and the Agricultural Scientific Research Center, which was translated into Armenian and Azerbaijani languages for ethnic minorities.

As part of the renewed extension, farmers' training was conducted in all municipalities.
