Farms/Farmers Registration Project has been initiated
The Agricultural Projects Management Agency of the Ministry of Environmental protection and Agriculture of Georgia has initiated the project of registering Farms and Farmers on the whole territory of Georgia. According to the Agency, interest of the Farmers towards the Project is very high and tens of Farmers have been registered in the Registry of Farmers on the very first day.
Within the framework of the project, the registration of those entities involved in agricultural activities is planned to be implemented throughout Georgia, which shall provide the opportunity for target groups to be correctly selected for the implementation of various purposive and motivating state project/program.
The project budget amounts to GEL 1,300,000 and its first stage is planned to be completed by 2018. It is important that the project if follows the fulfillment of one of the obligations stipulated by the European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD II). The mentioned obligation envisages registering up to 100 000 farms/farmers in the Registry of Farms/Farmers no later than 2018.
For the purpose of implementing the farms/farmers registration project, the state agencies and organizations, possessing various bases have provided the Agency with primary information. Based on the initial obtained information, the Agency shall identify and classify the entities to be registered in the registry. Checking and reviewing and further authentication of the received information shall be carried out by the Agency through a telephone survey.
In the first phase, for registration of farms/farmers only the entities who own agricultural land parcels (with a total area not less than 0.25 ha) in their ownership and simultaneously are beneficiaries of any agricultural project/program implemented by the Government or apply any agricultural service proposed by the Government shall be communicated.
