Changes Have Been Made to the State Program “Agroinsurance”

According to the decision made at the Government of Georgia session, farmers benefiting from the state agroinsurance program in villages adjacent to the occupation dividing line will receive increased co-financing.

According to the changes, if the insured object is located in villages adjacent to the occupation dividing line, the agency's co-financing will be set at 75% instead of 70%.

Also, with the change introduced to the program, the insurance company will be able to assess more promptly and accurately the number of affected individuals and the extent of the damage, and reduce the number of notifications that do not require a response.

Within the framework of the state program, the insurance policy covers such insurance risks as hail, flood, windstorm, and autumn frost (only for citrus crops - from September 1 to November 30 inclusive).

The state agroinsurance program allows farmers and individuals involved in agribusiness to insure their crops against natural disasters. The state agro-insurance program has been implemented since 2014, and its conditions change periodically, which is a prerequisite for its long-term sustainability.
