Targeted program for supporting hazelnut production will implemented in 2024, as in 2023 by The Rural Development Agency

In accordance with the Resolution made at the session of the Government of Georgia, in order to get a quality hazelnut harvest, the farmers will benefit from the hazelnut production-supporting program also in the year of 2024. The budget of the program was determined for 20 million of GEL.

Subsidizing of costs for agrochemicals and pesticides necessary for hazelnut production is envisaged within the frameworks of the program for support of hazelnut farmers.  For the above mentioned purpose, the farmers owning or/and actually owning the hazelnut orchards with total area no less than 0.2 ha and not exceeding 3 ha, will receive 500 GEL subsidy per 1 ha. 

Subsidy for the program participants will be issued by the way of accruing the points to the Liberty Bank agro-card. The farmers will have the opportunity to use the accrued points at more than 500 specialized agricultural shops across the Georgia.

Target program was initiated in November of the last year. Over 44,000 ha of hazelnut orchards have been registered at the hazelnut cadaster. In the current year, farmers received about 21 million GEL of targeted assistance for purchase of maintenance tools for hazelnut orchards.
