The Advisory Training was held under USAID / REAP – APMA Memorandum
The advisory training concerning the food safety management systems was held for the beneficiaries of the project on agriculture production processing and storage enterprises co-funding within the framework of a memorandum signed between the Agriculture Projects Management Agency and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
The advisory training aims to introduce international standards and systems (HACCP and ISO22000:2005) of food safety management in the project beneficiary enterprises.
Up to 15 beneficiaries of 11 enterprises got familiarized with the rules of hygiene and conduct for the personnel needed in the enterprises. They were also informed about the issues of cleaning, waste management and pest control.
The advisory training was held in Batumi and it was attended by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Adjara, Avtandil Meskhidze, a manager of the project on agriculture production processing and storage enterprises co-funding, Revaz Asatiani and the USAID representatives.
The advisory trainings are aimed at boosting the potential of the project beneficiary enterprises and promoting an increase in production efficiency.
The Agriculture Projects Management Agency has been implementing the project on agriculture production processing and storage enterprises co-funding since 2014.
The project provides for the creation of sectorally and geographically diversified agriculture production processing and storage enterprises and the financial and technical assistance for their sustainable development.
11 new enterprises were funded within the framework of the above-said project.
The state has already spent $ 3 172 198 as grant and additionally co-funded 11% out of interest rate on preferential agro loans (total volume $3 666 582) issued to the beneficiary companies.
The Agriculture Projects Management Agency has been carrying out large-scale projects intended for the long-term development since 2013 and its goal is to create an environment that will help boost competitiveness in the agricultural sector, promote a steady growth of producing high-quality goods and ensure food safety and food security.
