The insurance companies started payment of the compensation for the damage incurred in June from natural disaster to the farmers in Kakheti region, who are involved in the Agro Insurance Programme.
The Manager of the Agro Insurance Programme of the Agricultural Projects Management Agency, Mr. Levan Maghradze, the Deputy Governor of Kakheti region Mr. Givi Metreveli and the representative of the Insurance Company Aldagi, Mr. Vakhtang Ebitashvili, visited David Khutsishvilis peach orchard, that was damaged by the natural disaster hailstone .
As a result of horrifying hailstone 72% of David Khutsishvilis peach orchard was damaged. The loss, estimated by the insurance company, amounted to GEL 16,500, which will be fully compensated by the Insurance Company Aldagi. David Khutsishvili joined the Agro Insurance Programme implemented by the Agricultural Projects Manageemnt Agency in September 30, 2014 and insured 1,8 hectares of his peach orchard. The insurance premium was GEL 2,295 , out of which the Agency paid GEL 2,160 on behalf of the beneficiary.
More than 4000 beneficiaries from Kakheti region joined the Agro Insurance Programme implemented by the Agricultural Projects Manageemnt Agency, out of whom 1,665 farmers live in Gurjaani Municipality. In current year 72 beneficiaries incurred damage due to excessive precipitation and hail, and according to the primary estimation the total compensation amounts to GEL 331 178, which will be fully compensated by the Insurance Companies.
Across the country 26,625 policies were issued. The total insurance subsidy issued from State is estimated as 13,418,205 Georgian Lari . Overall 22, 844 hectares of land is insured.
The total cost of the insured crops is GEL 186,676,471. 8, 008 beneficiaries incurred damage due to excessive precipitation and hail, and according to the primary estimation the compensation amounts to GEL 9,5 million. The assessment of damages and the payment of compensation is carried out simultaneously.
