New orchards have been cultivated throughout the region of Kakheti, Gurjaani area by Malkaz Klibadze under the state Agro project framework Plant the Future .The manager of the Agricultural Projects Management Agency program Plant the Future-Mr. Levan Dolidze together with Kakheti governor Irakli Kadagishvili visited the garden of one of the beneficiaries participating under the programMalkhaz Klibadze in the village of Melaani, the Gurjaani area of Kakheti region.Malkhaz Klibadze has been involved in the state programfrom 2015 year and in order to plant walnut orchards on 11 hectares and arrangement of irrigation system has received the state funding at the amount of 40,977 Gel. GEL 25,410 - for seedlings and GEL 15,567 - for drip systems were allotted from the the received funds. Under the Agro project program Plant the Future new perennial fruit trees were planted in Kakheti region totally on 398 hectares, and the received finances totaled GEL 1,488,103. As of today, the area for cultivation of new orchards and arrangement of irrigation systems throughout the whole Georgia amounts to 8,621,612 million GEL on the 1,728 hectares. Under the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture, the implementation of the Agricultural Project Management Agency state program Plant the Future was launched from 2015. Its goal is to provide maximum support of the targeted use of agricultural land, cultivation of perennial gardens and arrangement of nurseries in allthe municipalities of Georgia (except Tbilisi, Rustavi, Batumi, Kutaisi and Poti). The State co-financing for the program Plant the Future will be as follows: In the case of garden cultivation the 70 % of the costs of seedlings and 50% from the cost of a drip irrigation system; In the case of nursery farming 50 % of farming arrangement cost. The Agricultural Project Management Agency is implementing the single agro project that is designed for long-term development and its aim is to promote the increase of competiveness in Agricultural sector field, stable development in the production of high quality products and ensuring of food safety norms and standards.
