New greenhouse farming has been opened in Mtskheta-Mtianeti within the United Agroproject
In the village of Arashenda, Mtskheta-Mtianeti farmer Giorgi Sanadze, built the greenhouse, equipped with modern standards in the framework of the "United Agroproject with the state financial support. He grows different varieties of flowers on open ground. The total value of the project amounted to GEL 23,831, out of which GEL 9,532 is grant and the beneficiary's contribution is 14,298 GEL.
Tornike Kapanadze, Grant Manager of Agriculture Projects Management Agency, together with Irakli Tskitishvili, First Deputy State Attorney of Mtskheta Mtianeti region visited the greenhouse and got acquainted with the work process.
In the greenhouse located on 420 sq.m the farmer receives approximately 60,000 flowers per year from November to May, which he sells in the local market. There are 5 people employed in the greenhouse.
The project was implemented with the support of Agricultural Projects Management Agency Agro-Production Support Program "Agriculture Modernization, Market Access and Flexibility Project" (AMMAR). The program is funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Global Environment Fund (GEF). The co-financing of the agency envisaged by the program constitutes 40% of the total value of the submitted project and the beneficiary's participation is 60%. Since the beginning of the project 418 beneficiaries have received financing and the amount of co-financing by the state amounted to GEL 8,461,806.
It is noteworthy that since 2013 the financial support of the state has given the entrepreneurs an additional push for development and expansion of production.
