Ilia Tamarashvili: After the implementation of the program, agricultural producers will be able to continue working on the export market independently
“Export support program with involvement of the Agencies of the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Economics has been initiated upon the initiative of USAID Rural Development Program. The project implies the acquisition of skill for farmers that will help them to find the buyers, as well as to negotiate with them and form the proposals. One European country – Germany was selected, the experience gained in Germany can be freely spread over the European Union and Schengen countries, as well as the GULF countries, that is the market with the highest purchasing powers. International Company OCO Global will support each company in the formation of the proposal, offer and will also be involved in negotiation process. Finally 50 companies will be involved in the program. After implementation of the above mentioned program, agricultural producers will have the possibility to continue working on export market independently” – Mr. Ilia Tamarashvili, the Director of Rural Development Agency, stated.
On first stage, approximately 80 export-oriented companies all over the country have been selected – producers of blueberries, nuts and food (tea, dried fruits, juices and others).
Export market linkage program is implemented through the Georgian agricultural export group, jointly founded by USAID Rural Development Program, Rural Development Agency and Agency “Produce in Georgia”.
