Georgian strawberries and blueberries are exported to the United States of America
The Glenbury Ltd is an enterprise founded with the financial support of the state, which exports Georgian products to several countries. This time the company exported 20 tons of strawberries and blueberries processed by shock method to the United States.
Mr. Giorgi Khanishvili, First Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, together with Mr. Giorgi Khojevanishvili, Governor of the Shida Kartli region, and Mr. Ilia Tamarashvili, Director of the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency visited the Glenbury Ltd to get acquainted with the production process.
The Glenbury Ltd is one of the enterprises, on the example of which we can say what kind of development prospects the agriculture has in Georgia and how the decisions made by the Georgian government will affect farmers. This enterprise has been supplying various products to the international markets for the second year already Mr. Giorgi Khanishvili declared.
According to Mr. Giorgi Khojevanishvili, the existence of such enterprises is important for the economic strengthening of the region.
Since 2018, in the village of Kvenatkotsa, Kareli Municipality, the modern standard refrigeration farm Glenbury Ltd has been established with the financial support of the state, within the framework of the "United Agroproject". A total of GEL 5 million was invested in the enterprise, out of which GEL 600,000 was a grant and the rest was the investment of the beneficiary. 1,200 tons of various fruits and vegetables can be stored in the refrigerator complex every year. In addition, the refrigeration complex has a processing infrastructure, where, using a unique shock freezing method, it is possible to process 10 tons of fruits and vegetables in 24 hours. The Glenbury Ltd employs 150 locals. The company has introduced the International Food Safety Standard - ISO 22 000. This year, the owners of the company also planted broccoli at 5 ha and strawberry plantation at 11 ha. The financial support of the state has given additional impetus to entrepreneurs to develop and expand production. Since 2013, with the help of the state, more than 200 new enterprises have been funded under the United Agroproject.
