New Intensive Walnut Orchard was Planted in Kakheti Region
Malkhaz Chugoshvili, the farmer has planted a new intensive walnut orchard in the Village Vazisubani in Gurjaani district, within the framework of the project Plant the Future. Paata Shekeladze, the Director of the Agriculture Projects Management Agency, together with Archil Khandamashvili, the Mayor of Gurjaani visited orchards of intensive types and got acquainted with the nursing operations formation of seedling, cultivation and modernization of irrigation system.
Malkhaz Chugoshvili got involved in the project in 2017 and has received more than GEL 43,000 co-financing from the State for planting intensive garden on 7.3 hectares, wherefrom GEL 24,944 was intended for co-financing of the seedlings and GEL 18,325 for the irrigation system. It is noteworthy that Malkhaz Chugoshvili plans to obtain the international certificate of primary production - Global Gap, with the support of the state. Planting of new orchards on 6,565 hectares throughout Georgia has been funded within the framework of the Project Plant the Future. The State funding amount to 35,414,767 million lari.
Wherefrom, cultivation of fruit trees in 2,562 hectares of land plant is funded in Kakheti region. The Agricultural Projects Management Agency carries out the United AgroProject, which is envisaged for long-term development and aims to create an environment that will promote the increase of competitiveness in agriculture, stable growth of high quality products, introduction of international standards of food safety.
