Spring works are underway in accordance with safety rules
Within the framework of the state program "Plant the Future", the cultivation of perennial orchards and berry gardens are going smoothly. Due to the created epidemiological situation, the work process is carried out in accordance with the recommendations, in compliance with safety rules.
Lasha Shalamberidze, Head of the Regional Relations Department of the Rural and Agricultural Development Agency of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, together with Giorgi Shengelia, Mayor of Zugdidi Municipality, got acquainted with the process of planting a new blueberry garden in the village of October in Zugdidi Municipality.
Local farmer Jenner Belkania received $ 75,000 of state funding for the cultivation of a blueberry orchard for 5 hectares under the state program "Plant The Future". He also used a preferential agro-credit in the amount of 175,000 GEL for the modernization of his gardens.
Alongside with the fight against the spread of new coronavirus, spring works are underway in the regions of Georgia. Farmers follow the safety rules and follow the recommendations issued by the Ministry of Health, said Lasha Shalamberidze, head of the Rural and Agricultural Development Agency's regional relations department.
Representatives of the regional services of the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency of the Ministry of Environmental protection and Agriculture of Georgia are in constant communication with farmers and, in addition to sectoral issues, are also consulting on the prevention of the spread of coronavirus.
It is exciting that the area cultivated under the component of the state program "Plant the Future" is 9,277 hectares nationwide. Within the framework of the subcomponent of berry crops, 376 farmers were 100% funded to cultivate berry crops on 136 ha, including the cultivation of more than 48 ha of berry gardens in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, the amount of state funding amounted to 1,903,352 GEL.
