Strawberry plantation planted in a mountainous village of Aspindza Municipality with the state support
Mr. Giorgi Khanishvili, First Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture visited the farm of "Toki Agro Products" Ltd, where he got acquainted with the progress of agro-technical works in the strawberry plantation.
The strawberry plantation, located in the village of Toki, Aspindza Municipality at 1640 meters above sea level, is arranged according to soil-climatic factors and fully meets modern standards.
As Mr. Giorgi Khanishvili noted, the current year is rich in crops; it is very important that even in the conditions of the Covid pandemic, the support of farmers in Georgia has not stopped.
The company has a strawberry plantation planted on 2 hectares; additionally, a new plantation is being cultivated on 1 ha. The implemented investment amounted to GEL 500,000, among them 65,000 GEL is preferential agro-credit. The company is a beneficiary of various international donor organizations. Strawberries are sold on the local market under the brand name "Green Republic". The company employs 5 people permanently and up to 30 people seasonally. The average yield is up to 25 tons of strawberries per hectare. The company also owns a nursery, where about 50 different varieties of strawberries are preserved.
