A new fruit-vegetable storage refrigerator complex has been launched in the region of Shida Kartli
The fruit-vegetable storage new enterprise was opened in village Dzevera, Gori municipality. The refrigeration system equipped with modern standards was created within the framework of the "United Agroproject" with the help of "Agro-Kartli" Ltd. The financial support of the enterprise was provided within the frames of the "Co-Financing Project for Agricultural Production and Storage Enterprises". Overall, up to GEL 1,700,000 was invested in the enterprise, out of which 600,000 GEL is grant, 845,000 GEL preferential agro credit and the remaining amount is invested by the beneficiary.
Giorgi Khanishvili, Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture together with Paata Shekeladze, Director of Agriculture Projects Management Agency and Giorgi Khojevanishvili, Governor of Shida Kartli Region, opened the refrigeration complex and got acquainted with manufacturing process. In the refrigerator complex, 700 tons of different fruits and vegetables can be stored annually. The product realization is intended for the local market. There are 5 local residents permanently employed in the refrigerator complex and 10 people are added seasonally. By the end of 2019, with the support of the Agriculture Projects Management Agency, the International Food Safety Standards - HACCP is planned to be introduced.
From 2013 up to now, 187 new enterprises have been financed under the "United Agropoject", Out of which, 22 new enterprises were created in the region of Kartli. The state's financial support has given the entrepreneurs an additional push for development and expansion. The Agricultural Projects Management Agency carries out the "United Agroproject", which is designed for long-term development and aims to create an environment that will promote the increase of competitiveness in agriculture, stable growth of high quality products, introduction of international standards of food safety.
