A new apple garden has been cultivated in Shida Kartli region within the United Agro Project
Within the framework of the "United AgroProject", the beneficiary of the project "Plant the Future", the cooperative "Agro Business Group" has cultivated a new apple garden on 20 hectares of land parcel. The fruit garden is located in the village of Pkhvenisi of Gori region. Mariam Mekoshkishvili, Project Manager of the Project "Plant the Future", together with Simon Guledani, the deputy governor of Shida Kartli and the representatives of local self-government, have visited the "Agro Business Group" apple garden.
The beneficiary was involved in the project in 2015 and has received 99063 Gel for the cultivation of the garden and arrangement of irrigation systems, including 58 800 GEL for seedlings and 40 263 GEL for drip irrigation systems. Total investment amounted to 164 526 GEL. It is worth noting that the company is expecting to get the first crop of apple this year.
As of June 30, 2018, cultivation of new gardens on 5474 ha land parcels have been funded within the framework of the project "Plant the Future", throughout of Georgia and the state funding amounts to 29097 678 Gel. Hence, the cultivation of fruit gardens on 1 643 ha land parcels in Shida Kartli region is funded.
The Agricultural Projects Management Agency is implementing the United AgroProject which is intended for a long-term development and aims at creating such an environment which shall promote the enhancement of competitiveness in Agriculture, stable growth of production of high quality products and the establishment of international standards of food safety.
