Farmers Take Advantage of Anti-crisis Agricultural Plan Programs
Farmers and entrepreneurs involved in agricultural activities receive significant support from the state as part of the anti-crisis agricultural plan Caring for Village and Farmers.
As of August 21:
- Within the framework of the state program to encourage agricultural landowners, more than 145,000 farmers have already collected agricultural points. The amount of the allocated subsidy exceeds 26 million GEL. Accrual of agricultural points
- Under the agro-diesel discount program, more than 116,000 beneficiaries received agro-diesel discount cards of up to 30,000 tons. Farmers who have already cashed the discount cards have saved more than 3,700,000 GEL in total.
- Within the framework of the agro-insurance program as of August 15, 2020, more than 16,000 policies have been issued under the state agro-insurance program, which is 18% more than in the same period last year. More than 17,000 hectares of land are insured, the value of the insured crop exceeds 155 million GEL.
- Within the framework of the state program on modernization and market access of the dairy farming sector, more than 1000 applications have been filed in the Imereti, Kakheti, Samegrelo and Zemo Svaneti, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli regions.
- Under the preferential agro-credit program, the state fully covers the 6-month interest to secure financing of the short-term costs of growing annual crops. 1842 agro-loans have been issued, the total amount of the loans exceeds 33 million GEL, where the co-financing of interest by the Agency exceeds 2.7 million GEL.
- The agrarian enterprises promotion program covers 387 beneficiaries, where 252 beneficiaries received 50% of the cost of agricultural machinery, and the applications of 135 beneficiaries for the purchase of fixed assets for the arrangement and modernization of the greenhouses, as well as for the purchase and installation of an irrigation system for annual crops have been granted.
