Alexander Pirtskhalaishvili - Greenhouse of Roses
In Guria region, Ozurgeti municipality, a greenhouse equipped with new modern standards is functioning.The Greenhouse was financed under the framework of the "United AgroProject" . In order to create a greenhouse, brothers Alexander and Davit Pirtskhalaishvili applied for the "Agro-Production Promotion Program" and the "Preferential Agrocredit" at the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency. The project was supported by the Agricultural Modernization, Market Access and Flexibility Project (AMMAR). The program was funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF). A total of 300,000 GEL was invested in the greenhouse, from which up to 73,000 GEL was grant, 210,000 GEL was preferential agrocredit, and the rest was invested by beneficiaries themselves. Farmers grow about 70,000-80,000 roses per year, which they sell on the local market. The greenhouse is constantly staffed by 4 local residents, and the number of seasonal employees is increasing.
