The program for promoting agricultural production on irrigated land plots conditions have improved
According to the decision made at the session of the Government of Georgia, changes have been made to the program for promoting agricultural production on irrigated land plots.
The geographical coverage area of the program has expanded. The program will be implemented in all villages of the Sagarejo, Gori, and Kareli municipalities, as well as the village of Kachreti.
With the changes introduced in the program, the co-financing percentage allocated per beneficiary has increased. All target directions under the program are now co-financed at 50%, for young people – at 55%, and for members of water user organizations – at 60%. The total amount of co-financing per beneficiary is set at 30,000 GEL.
Funding for small-scale agricultural machinery has been added to the program's target directions. The amount of co-financing from the Rural Development Agency depends on the capacity of the machinery and ranges from 1,000 to 5,000 GEL.
In order to cover as many beneficiaries as possible, the minimum required land area for the program has been reduced from 0.5 ha to 0.2 ha, except in the case of agrometeorological stations.
The program, implemented by the Rural Development Agency, finances the installation of modern irrigation systems for annual crops, as well as for perennial crops such as strawberries and alfalfa, agrometeorological stations, solar-powered electric stations, and greenhouse farms.
It is noteworthy that the program is part of the “Georgia Sustainable Agriculture, Irrigation, and Land Project”, which is co-financed equally by state funds and a World Bank loan.
