Program to support farmers with agro-diesel is running smoothly

Director of the Rural Development Agency Mr. Ilia Tamarashvili got acquainted with the progress of the agro-diesel support program in Shida Kartli region.

The Director of the Agency visited the region together with the Deputy Governor of Shida Kartli Mr. Nugzar Samkharadze and the Director of the company "SOCAR Georgia Petroleum" Mr. Levan Giorgadze.

"Agro-diesel support program continues in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and the SOCAR Petroleum Georgia; farmers can now get discount cards remotely through the website my.mepa.gov.ge. The program, across the country, is running smoothly. Purchasing diesel at a discounted price allows farmers to save on agricultural costs, Mr. Ilia Tamarashvili, Director of the Rural Development Agency declared.

According to Mr. Levan Giorgadze, the Director of the SOCAR Georgia Petroleum, farmers are enjoying the benefits provided by the agro-diesel support program at 89 gas stations throughout Georgia.

"The agro-diesel support program has been successfully implemented for the second year, which is an important opportunity for farmers in the region to carry out spring work in compliance with the agro-term, Mr. Nugzar Samkharadze, Shida Kartli Deputy Governor declared.

Discount cards are issued remotely through the website my.mepa.gov.ge; farmers can also get the cards at the regional offices of the Rural Development Agency.

The program provides for the issuance of discount cards for 150 liters of fuel for 1 hectare and not more than 15,000 liters of fuel for more than 100 hectares of agricultural land.

Nationwide, diesel is delivered according to the established schedule, namely: from February 1 through March 31, no more than 2,000 liters of fuel will be delivered, from April 1 through April 30 - an additional 1,500 liters, and from May 1 through December 31 - the remaining quantity of fuel.

The program is implemented on the basis of a memorandum signed between the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and the SOCAR Georgia Petroleum, and no budget funds are spent on it.
