In frames of the United Agroproject tea plantations located in Tskaltubo are being rehabilitated

The Ltd. Renegade Tea, in scopes of the program Georgian Tea conducts rehabilitation of tea plantations located in the Imereti Region. The manager of the program Georgian Tea Levan Urotadze and the Mayor of Tskaltubo Grigol Ioseliani, together with representatives of the local self-government visited the company funded in the Tskaltubo Region and inspected the rehabilitative works. The Ltd. Renegade Tea was involved into the program in November, 2017, and it will provide rehabilitation of 16 ha tea plantations; the total cost of the rehabilitative works makes up 48,000 lari, from which 28,000 lari with the co-financing of the Agricultural Projects Management Agency. It is remarkable that the stated company, in scopes of the program Georgian Tea is planning to conduct rehabilitation of tea plantations in Tkibuli District on the 15 ha land parcel. In frames of the program Georgian Tea, on a national scale, 31 beneficiaries are involved. Total area of the plantations to be rehabilitated makes up 739 ha, and its total investment 1,864,046 lari, from which 1,315,992 lari represent the state co-financing. The program Georgian Tea is being implemented since the year of 2016 and its target is an efficient application of the potential of the tea plantations existing in Georgia, stimulating the cultivation of the local tea (including the biological tea), and, as a result of this, increasing of the level of self-provision and of the exporting potential. In addition to it, it is remarkable that in scopes of the program rehabilitation of the abandoned tea plantations existing in the private or state ownership. Legal entities may receive funds for rehabilitation of the tea plantations, among them are agricultural cooperations as well. The Agricultural Projects Management Agency, in scopes of the Produce in Georgia Business, is implementing the United Agroproject, which is designed for long-termed development and is focused on creation of a kind of the environment which will support increasing of competitiveness in the agricultural sector, sustainable upgrading of production of high quality products, and implementing of international standards applicable in the field of safety of food.
