New Walnut and Blackberry Gardens have been cultivated in Kakheti Region

Within the framework of the "United AgroProject", the beneficiary of the project "Plant the Future", "Gealago" Ltd has cultivated the new walnut and blackberry gardens on 8 hectares. The fruit gardens are located in the village of Arashenda in Gurjaani region. Mariam Mekoshkishvili, Project Manager of the Project "Plant the Future", along with Givi Metreveli, the deputy governor of Kakheti and the representatives of local self-government, visited the walnut and blackberry gardens of LTD "Gealogo". The Beneficiary was involved in the program in 2016. The beneficiary has received state funding of 36,215 GEL for cultivation of gardens and arrangement of irrigation systems, including 24,220 GEL for seedlings and 11,995 GEL for dripping systems. Total investments amounted to GEL 62,790 within the framework of the project "Plant the Future"; cultivation of new fruit trees on 5,264 hectares has been funded throughout Georgia and the state funding amounts to 28,037,524 million GEL, which includes cultivation of Fruit gardens in Kakheti region on 1,820 hectares of land. The Agricultural Projects Management Agency is implementing the United AgroProject within the program Produce in Georgia - Business which is intended for a long-term development and aims at creating such an environment which shall promote the enhancement of competitiveness in Agriculture, stable growth of production of high quality products and the establishment of international standards of food safety.
