Within the framework of the United Agroproject, snail-farm was launched in Samegrelo region
The snail farm NADI Group equipped with modern standards has been founded in the village of AkhaliKhibula, Khobi Municipality with the support of the state, within the scopes of the united agroproject. A total of GEL 1,410,000 was invested to build the farm, out of which preferential agro-credit for GEL 1,260,000 was obtained by the beneficiaries.
The farm produces an average of 50 tons of snail meat per year, the products are sold on export markets, mainly in Italy, and it is planned to go to the local market as well. The company employs 10 local residents permanently.
Giorgi Khanishvili, Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, along withOtarShamugia, Director of Agriculture and Rural Development Agency, Davit Partsvania, Deputy Governor of Samegrelo-ZemoSvaneti Region and the representatives of local government visited the snails farm and got familiarized with the production process.
With the support of the state, 200 new enterprises were funded within the framework of the united agro-project, out of which 25 new enterprises were opened in Samegrelo region. Agriculture and Rural Development Agency implements the unified agro-project, which is designed for long-term development and aims to create an environment conducive to increasing competitiveness in agriculture, steady growth of high-quality production and implementation of international food safety standards.
