Tea plantations in Ozurgeti region undergo rehabilitation within United Agroproject

Marsi LTD got involved in Georgian Tea state program in August 2017. Marsi LTD carries out rehabilitation of tea plantation in Nagomari village of Ozurgeti Municipality on 18ha territory. Value of rehabilitation works is 45 000 GEL. 32 000 GEL from the value is funded by Project Management Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture. Levan Urotadze, the Manager of Georgian Tea program and Merab Chanukvadze, the Governor of Guria region together with representatives of local self-governance visited tea plantation rehabilitation works. 36 projects of 30 beneficiaries were approved within Georgian Tea program throughout Georgia. Total area of plantations to be rehabilitated is 848 ha. Total investment is 2,125,752, where 1,495,538 is states co-funding; Georgian Tea program has been carried out since 2016. Its aim is efficient usage of tea plantations in Georgia, promotion of local tea production (including bio tea), increasing of production level, increasing of self-provision level and export potential. Rehabilitation of private and state-owned tea plantations is possible within the project. Legal persons get funding for rehabilitation of tea plantations, including agricultural cooperatives. Agricultural Projects Management Agency carries out United Agroproject within Produce in Georgia Business, which is focused on long-term development and its is aimed at creation of an environment, which will promote increasing of competitiveness in the field of agriculture, stable growth of productions of high quality products and establishing of international food safety standards.
