Agricultural Projects Management Agency of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture has initiated the project for farms and farmers registration on the whole territory of Georgia. Within the scope of the project, entities involved in agriculture activities are planned to be registered in Georgia. Davit Kiknadze, Project Manager of Farmers Registration, together with local government representatives met with farmers in Kvemo Kartli region and presentedthe farms/farmers registration project. As the project manager pointed out, registration of farms and farmers will create an important information base; and shall provide the opportunity for target groups to be correctly selected for the creation and effective implementation of the state project/program tailored to the needs of farmers. The project was commenced on August 8 and until today more than 9 500 farmers are registered in the database. The budget of the project amounts to 1 300 000 GEL and its first stage is planned to be finished by the end of 2018. It is important that the project is in compliance with the fulfillment of one of the obligations stipulated by the European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD II). The mentioned obligation envisages registering up to 100 000 farms/farmers in the Registry of Farms/Farmers no later than 2018. For the purpose of implementing the farms/farmers registration project, the state agencies and organizations, possessing various bases have provided the Agency with primary information. Based on the initial obtained information, the Agency shall identify and classify the entities to be registered in the registry. Checking and reviewing and further authentication of the received information shall be carried out by the Agency through a telephone survey. In the first phase, for registration of farms/farmers only the entities who own agricultural land parcels (with a total area not less than 0.25 ha) in their ownership, and simultaneously are beneficiaries of any agricultural project/program implemented by the Government or apply any agricultural service proposed by the Government shall be communicated.
