Another New Orchard was Planted in Shida Kartli Region
The Cooperative DOESI has planted a new intensive walnut garden in the village Doesi, Aspi Municipality, within the framework of the project Plant the Future. Giorgi Jibladze, the Deputy Director of the Agriculture Projects Management Agency of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, together with Nugzar Samkharadze, Deputy Shida-Kartli Governor and representatives of the local government visited RC Doesi Orchard owned by one of the beneficiaries participating in the project, who was involved in the project in 2017 and has received the state funding in the amount of GEL 97,000 for planting an walnut orchard on 20 ha area and developing an irrigation system. From the received funding 40,000 GEL was designated for the seedlings and GEL 57,000 for drip systems.
It should be noted that the Cooperative DOESI is another beneficiary of the State project Agro-Production Support Program, within which the members of the Cooperative have purchased the agricultural tractor, 40% of the value of which is the State co-financing and totals GEL 19,950. Cultivation of new gardens on 6,773 hectares are funded throughout Georgia and the State co-financing volume exceed 36.5 million lari.
The financial support from the State has encouraged the entrepreneurs to develop and expand their production. The Agricultural Projects Management Agency carries out the United AgroProject, which is envisaged for long-term development and aims to create an environment that will promote the increase of competitiveness in agriculture, stable growth of high quality products, introduction of international standards of food safety.
