The First Coordination Meeting of the Demonstration Plots National Network was Held in Tbilisi
The first coordination meeting of the national network of demonstration plots was held on January 30 at Tbilisi Marriott Hotel on the initiative of the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency and with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The meeting was attended by Giorgi Khanishvili, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Ilia Tamarashvili, the Director of Agricultural and Rural Development Agency and the representatives of donor organizations.
The discussion highlighted an easy and unrestricted access to demonstration plots for local farmers, which will help them improve their education and introduce modern technologies and new approaches to farming.
At the meeting it was decided to create a national network of demonstration plots, which will unite the agencies engaged in the extension. A unified map of the demonstration plots and a field day calendar will also be created to enable concerned farmers in the regions to share the worlds latest knowledge on crops, their growing-cultivation and relevant experience directly in the demonstration plots.
It is also planned to create a unified electronic database of demonstration plots, which will provide farmers with complete information on the crops cultivated on the plot, in addition to their geographical location.
The coordination meeting highlighted the importance of introducing modern approaches to farming, which would help farmers and promote to the development of agriculture.
