The new Strawberry garden has been cultivated in Gurjaani region under the “United Agro Project”

Maia Beroshvili, the beneficiary of the Program of Agro Production Promotion under the United Agro Project has cultivated a new strawberry garden in village Gurjaani, Gurjaani region. About 50000 GEL has been invested for cultivation of the garden; 11, 285 GEL of which was awarded in the form of Grant to the Beneficiary, which was allocated for the purchase of irrigation systems. The garden is cultivated on 8000 m2 area and the beneficiary is expecting to cultivate 15 tons of strawberry this year. Tornike Kapanadze, the Grant Manager of Agricultural Projects Management Agency and Irakli Kadagishvili, the Governor of Kakheti, visited the strawberry garden in Gurjaani. Program of Agro Production Promotion is implemented by the Agricultural Projects Management Agency within the framework of the Agriculture Modernization, Market access and Resilience project (AMMAR). The program is funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The co-financing of the Agency under the program amounts to 40% of the total cost of the project, and the co-participation of the beneficiary amounts to 60%. Since the initiation of the project 207 beneficiaries received financing and the amount of state co-financing exceeded 4195000 GEL. The Agricultural Projects Management Agency is implementing the United AgroProject within the program Produce in Georgia - Business which is intended for a long-term development and aims at creating such an environment which shall promote the enhancement of competitiveness in Agriculture, stable growth of production of high quality products and the establishment of international standards of food safety.
