A new Hazelnut Processing Enterprise was opened in the village Ingiri, Zugdidi Municipality.
Within the frame of the United AgroProject, the new enterprise Geo Nuts Ltd, equipped with modern standards were opened with the financial support of the state. In total, 2,780,000 GEL was invested in the enterprise, 600 000 GEL of which is a grant and 1,214,000GEL comes from preferential agrocredit. Enterprise was opened by Levan Davitashvili, the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, along with the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maia Tskitishvili and the Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Alexander Motserelia.
The opening ceremony of the enterprise was attended by Giorgi Khanishvili, Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Otar Danelia, Chairman of Agrarian Issues Committee of the Parliament, Nino Chikovani, President of the Chamber of Trade, Giorgi Jibladze, Deputy Director of Agricultural Projects Management Agency and the representatives of local self-government. Various types of products may be produced from up to 7000 10000 tons of nuts (roasted, crushed, grinded) in the enterprise. The products are intended for export. 100 people are employed in the processing enterprise. In 2018, with the support of the Agricultural Projects Management Agency, International Standards for Food Safety - ISO 22: 000 were introduced.
It is worth noting that since 2013, with the help of the state, 180 new enterprises have been financed within the frame of the "United AgroProject". The financial support of the state has encouraged the entrepreneurs for the development and expansion of their production. Agricultural Project Management Agency is implementing the "United AgroProject", which is intended for a long-term development and aims at creating such an environment which shall promote the enhancement of competitiveness in Agriculture, stable growth of production of high-quality products and the establishment of international standards of food safety.
