New Blueberry Gardens in Ajara region

New orchards will be planted on 9 hectares in the Adjara Region. 2 beneficiaries have received the funding of total 119,307.00 GEL in the framework of the Plant the Future program of the Agricultural Project Management Agency. Today, the manager of the Agricultural Project Management Agency program Plant the Future Levan Dolidze, together with representatives of the local government viewed the garden cultivation process of one of the beneficiaries participating in the program, David Tsenteradze in the village Gvara of Kobuleti region in Adjara. David Tsenteradze involved in the program on December 2, 2015 and has received the state funding of GEL 57,946.00 for planting blueberry on 4.5 hectares and arrangement of irrigation system. Out of the received funds GEL 48,020.00 are intended for seedlings and 9,926.00 GEL for drip systems. Adjara: by the end of the year blueberries will be planted on 9 hectares in Kobuleti region. As of today the area for cultivation of new orchards and arrangement of irrigation system throughout the country amounts to 1357 hectares and the amount of funding exceeds 6.9 million GEL. On the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture, the implementation of the Agricultural Project Management Agency program Plant the Future was launched in 2015. Its goal is to provide the maximum support of the intended use of agricultural land, cultivation of perennial gardens and arrangement of nurseries in all municipalities of Georgia (Tbilisi, Rustavi, Batumi, Kutaisi and Poti).State co-financing for the program Plant the Future will be as follows In case of planting the orchard - 70% of plant costs and 50% of dripping system costs; In case of nursery gardens 50 % of the costs for the creation of nursery gardens. 5 million GEL will be spent for the implementation of the program Plant the Future in 2016.Arrangement of modern orchards on the area of 1 000 1 200 hectares and 30 40 new, modern nursery gardens are envisaged under the program Plant the Future. That will promote the process of import replacement in the market and the increase of export potential. Agricultural Projects Management Agency has been implementing large-scale projects since 2013, that are designed for long-term development and is purposed to create the environment that will promote the rise of competitiveness in agriculture, stable increase in the production of high quality products and introduction of International food safety standards.
