800 Tons of Harvest Has Already Been Sold from the Newly Opened Refrigerating Facility
With the financial support of the state, Levan Katsiashvili organized a new refrigerating facility, equipped according to the modern standards; the total amount of investment was more than 800,000 GEL, including GEL 550,000 of preferential agricultural credit. The refrigerating facility can store up to 300 tons of fruits. The enterprise employs 10 people permanently, and 100 people seasonally. Since the beginning of the harvesting season, 800 tons of peaches and apples have already been sold from the newly opened refrigerating facility.
Ilia Tamarashvili, Director of the Rural Development Agency visited the refrigerating facility with Irakli Shioshvili, the State Representative in the Kakheti region, and inspected the work process on site.
Over a hundred storage and processing enterprises have already been established with the support of the State and this year we have signed 51 co-financing agreements in this direction. As part of the long-term rural development plan, support for processing and storage infrastructure remains a priority. The state plans to spend over GEL 700 million for the development of the sector in the next 10 years, said Ilia Tamarashvili, Director of the Rural Development Agency.
According to Irakli Shioshvili, State Representative in the Kakheti Region, state programs promoting the development of agriculture are important for the economic strengthening of the region.
The Kakheti Region has provided over 800 loans worth over 84 million GEL for the development of the storage and refrigeration infrastructure within the scope of the preferential agricultural crediting project, while the co-financing by the Rural Development Agency amounts to over 10 million GEL.
