Grape Processing Cooperative Enterprise Will Export Wine to Sweden

With the financial support of the Rural Development Agency, a grape processing cooperative enterprise was launched in Kvareli Municipality. The agricultural cooperative Lamiani has invested more than 900,000 GEL in the creation of the enterprise, from which 500,000 GEL is a grant from the Rural Development Agency. The cooperative plans to sell wine in Sweden. The plant processed up to 400 tons of grapes for the first time this year. Agricultural Cooperative "Lamiani" combines 21 local viticulturists, the members of the cooperative own more than 20 hectares of vineyards.

Ilia Tamarashvili, Director of the Rural Development Agency and Levan Liluashvili, Deputy State Representative of Kakheti Region got acquainted with the working process in the state-supported cooperative enterprise in Kakheti region.

"With our support, 26 grape processing cooperatives have been established across the country. "Agricultural cooperation is a good way to unite several farmers and reduce the cost of the products in primary production, as well as to process products and earn more income in the form of added value," said Ilia Tamarashvili, director of the Rural Development Agency.

According to the Deputy State Representative of Kakheti Region, Levan Liluashvili, the programs of the Rural Development Agency are an important support for the population of the region.

26 agricultural cooperatives are involved in the program "Support to Agricultural Cooperatives of Viticulture, including 24 from Kakheti region, 1- from Imereti, and 1- from Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti. The amount of state co-financing within the program is 12,4 mln GEL.
