The Process of Taking the First Harvest in the Gardens Planted within the Framework of the Program “Plant the Future” Is Underway

In 2015, Neil Advisory Group LLC planted a new orchard in the village Dzevera in Gori Region within the framework of the project Plant the Future. The company Neil Advisory Group received the state funding of 41,030 GEL for planting of apple garden and arrangement of irrigation system on 10 hectares. It has planted the orchard of two different apple varieties on the owned area and expects the harvest of 50 tons of apples this year. 50 people are employed in the garden. Levan Dolidze, the representative of the Agriculture Projects Management Agency and Simon Guledani, the Deputy Governor of the Shida Kartli visited the Neil Advisory Group LLC apple orchards in the village Dzevera and took part in harvesting process. According to the representative of the Agriculture Projects Management Agency, the beneficiary of the state project, Neil Advisory Group LLC received 31,955 GEL from the state for purchase of planting stock and 9,075 GEL for arrangement of drip irrigation system. In addition, the company has benefited from one more state program: it has received 146,000 US dollars as a preferential agro-credit, which was used for arranging/expanding the garden. Within the framework of the project Plant the Future, in the Shida Kartli region, various orchards of different cultures have been planted on 1 ,169 hectares of land, with the provided funding of 7,703,963 GEL. Currently, the total area allocated throughout Georgia for the cultivation of new orchards and arrangement of the irrigation system makes up 3,604 hectares, and the amount of financing totals 18,213,974 million GEL. Within the framework of the project Produce in Georgia for Rapid Development, the Agriculture Projects Management Agency is implementing the Uniform Agro Project designed for long-term development and its purpose is to create an environment that will promote the increase of competitiveness in agriculture, stable growth of high quality products, introduction of international food safety standards.
