New Orchards will be planted in 365 hectares in Shida Kartli. 51 beneficiaries have already received funding within the scopes of the program "Plant the Future" of the Agriculture Projects Management Agency. Today, Ms. Mariana Morgoshia, the Director of the Agriculture Projects Management Agency, Mr. Amiran Shavshishvili, the Deputy Governor of Shida Kartli and Mr. Levan Dolidze, the manager of the program "Plant the Future" visited and viewed the process of development of the orchard of Mr. David Beruashvili, one of the beneficiaries in Shindisi village, Gori region. Mr.David Beruashvili joined the program on December 7, 2015 and received the state funding in the amount of 24.650 GEL for cultivation of plum and wild plum orchards and arrangement of irrigation system in 5.1 hectares.From the funding 11,900 GEL was intended for young plants and 12,750 GEL for drip systems. By the end of the year 365 hectares of lands in Shida Kartli, Kareli, Gori and Kaspi will be planned with apple, peach, plum and cherry trees. For cultivation of new orchards and arrangement of irrigation system 835 ha will be allocated throughout Georgia within the scopes of the program, as for the financing capacity it is more than 4 million GEL.Under the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture the Agricultural Projects Management Agency began the implementation of the program "Plant the Future" in 2015. The goal of the program is to maximally support the increase of intended use of agricultural land, cultivation of perennial gardens and arrangement the nurseries in all municipalities of Georgia (except for Tbilisi, Rustavi, Batumi, Kutaisi and Poti).The volume of the state co-financing for the program "Plant the Future" amounts to: In case of orchards cultivation - 70% of the cost of seedlings or 50% of the cost of drip irrigation system; In case of nursery - 50% of the cost of setting the farm.5 million GEL shall be spent during 2016 for the program "Plant of the future". The program envisages arrangement of more than 1 000 - 1 200 hectares of modern orchards and 30 - 40 new, modern nurseries, which will contribute the import-substitution in the domestic market on the one hand and the growth process of the export potential on the other hand.The Agriculture Project Management Agency has been implementing the large-scale projects since 2013, these projects are assigned for a long-term development and aim at creation of the environment that shall help to increase competitiveness in agriculture, steady growth of high-quality production, food safety and food security issues.
