New refrigeration plant built in Kakheti region with the support of the Rural Development Agency

A new refrigeration plant was established in Sagarejo Municipality with the financial support of the state. Soma Matsivari Ltd is an enterprise equipped with modern standards, where a total of 578,000 GEL was invested, including 231,200 GEL co-financed by the Rural Development Agency, 289,000 GEL - preferential agro-credit. 500 tons of fruits and vegetables can be stored in the refrigerator farm. The products are sold in the local market. The enterprise employs about 30 locals.

Director of the Rural Development Agency Mr. Ilia Tamarashvili together with the majoritarian MP of the Parliament of Georgia Mr. Davit Songhulashvili and the Deputy Governor of the Kakheti Region Mr. Givi Metreveli visited the newly opened enterprise.

"Creating this type of infrastructure is a priority for the Rural Development Agency. In the value chain of agricultural production, the most important thing is the timely storage of the crop and storage in appropriate conditions. The state will support a number of similar projects in the future, "- said the Director of the Rural Development Agency Mr. Ilia Tamarashvili.

According to Majoritarian MP Mr. Davit Songhulashvili, these types of farms give the opportunity to create even more value, employ more people and replace more imported products with local ones.

It should be noted that within the framework of the grant programs of the Rural Development Agency, up to 50 refrigeration and storage farms are supported, and their funding exceeds a total of 23 million GEL.

More than 154 million GEL loans have been issued for the development of storing and refrigeration infrastructure within the framework of the preferential agro-credit project, the co-financing issued by the Agency exceeds 24 million GEL.
