New gardens in Senaki

Zaza Kharchilava, the native of village Nosri of Senaki Municipality cultivated the nursery garden of local nut on 1.03 hectare are within the frameworks of agro-project Plant the Future. The above mentioned nursery garden was visited by Otar Danelia, the Minister of the Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Shonia, Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and Mariana Morgoshia, Head of Project Management Agency. The farmer Zaza Kharchilava was involved into the project in 2016. The beneficiary implemented the investment of more than 23 000 Lari for the creation of nursery garden. 11 500 Lari, half of the mentioned sum was given to the farmer by the Agricultural Projects Management Agency. 25 600 local strains of nut (Anaklian) are cultivated in to the nursery garden of 1.03 hectare area. At the moment 2 nursery gardens are financed in the region within the frameworks of the agro-project Plant the Future. New fruit orchards were planted on 1.478 area within the country and the amount of funding is more than 7.5 million Lari. The Agricultural Project Management Agency started the implementation of the project in 2015 on the basis of the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia. The main goal of the program is to promote the increase of intended use of agricultural lands, cultivation of perennial gardens and assistance in cultivation of nursery gardens in all municipalities of Georgia (except Tbilisi, Rustavi, Batumi, Kutaisi and Poti). The amount of co-financing of the state within the agro-project Plant the Future amounts: In case of cultivation of garden - 70% of young plants and 50 % of dripping irrigation system; In case of nursery garden - 50 % of the total cost for the creation of such garden.
