Agroinsurance

If you own agricultural land with annual or perennial crops, the state offers agricultural insurance against natural events, which can help reduce potential risks and maintain income.

You can catch a spare in time and insure the crop against such natural events as:

  • hail
  • flood
  • storm
  • Autumn frosts (only for citrus crops - from September 1 to November 30)

A farmer or a rural resident can purchase an insurance policy from the following insurance companies operating in Georgia:

  • Aldag
  • TBC Insurance
  • New Vision Insurance

Within the framework of the program, the beneficiary can insure up to 20 ha of land, and in the case of grain culture, 100 ha (the mentioned limitation does not apply to agricultural cooperatives). Each insurer will receive 70% co-financing for all crops covered by the program.

It is possible for the insurer to insure both grain crops and other crops at the same time. A fixed insurance rate will be determined according to the program.

Registered land plots are accepted as insurance.

The insurer and/or the owner of the plot of land on which the object of insurance is located must be registered in the register produced by the Rural Development Agency within the framework of the "Farms/Farmers Registration Project".

In case of one-year crop insurance, it is allowed to issue such insurance policies under which the crop of that year is insured.

In case of insurance of perennial crops, it is allowed to issue such an insurance policy, within the framework of which no more than 3 years of crops are insured.

The farmer will have to wait only 4 days to get the insurance.

The term of the insurance policy issued under the program will be at least one month and will not exceed the yield period. The insurance will take effect in the next year's harvest, as soon as the current year's harvest time is over.

Perennial crop insurance will come into force as soon as the farmer pays the first installment of his insurance amount. In addition, the farmer must pay the insurance amount for the next year's crop when the harvest of the current year (specific crop) has already been completed, but no later than December 31.
