The project of Green Climate Fund on “Enabling implementation of forest sector reform in Georgia to reduce greenhouse gas emission from forest degradation” is being implemented in Georgia through the cooperation of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and its subordinated entities: LEPL – National Forestry Agency, the State Sub-agency Department of Environmental Supervision, LEPL – Environmental Information and Education Center, NNLE Rural Development Agency, as well as German International Cooperation Society (GIZ) and Ministry of Economics and Sustainable Development of Georgia. 

The project is funded by Green Climate Fund, Government of Georgia, Swiss Agency of Development and Cooperation, Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany.

Within the framework of the project, the Rural Development Agency shall provide support for the development of energy-efficient and alternative fuel market, for the following activities will be carried out:

To the extent of preferential agricultural credit for permanent assets component of preferential agricultural credit project, the preferential agricultural credit became available for entities producing energy-efficient stoves and fuel intended for energy-efficient stoves, in addition, sub-component of preferential agricultural credit for fixed assets - for financing food and energy-efficient industries and sub-component of preferential agricultural leasing for financing food and energy-efficient industries were also launched, enabling  retooling of existing enterprises or creation of new enterprises. Furthermore, the production of energy-efficient stoves and alternative fuel was added within the frameworks of processing enterprises component of co-financing project for processing and storage enterprises.

One of the most important instruments of the project is technical assistance and investment support, implying financial support for manufacturers of energy-efficient stoves and alternative fuel, in order to facilitate their investment ability and increase production, both in terms of quantity and quality.

Within the frameworks of the grant agreement on “Support of forest sector reform through facilitation of energy-efficient measures” executed on December 22, 2021 year by and between the Rural Development Agency and German International Cooperation Society (GIZ), approved by the Resolution No: 2116 of the Government of Georgia from November 29, 2021 year, the co-financing program is being implemented by the Agency, considering the following: co-financing / reimbursement of the cost of determination of compliance of energy-efficient stoves with specified criteria (parameters) for energy-efficient stoves manufacturing entrepreneurs and legal entities on the one hand, and co-financing of cost of energy-efficient stove for adult natural person, the citizen of Georgia, being the representative of single household, on the other hand.
