Program Goal and Objective

The goal of the program is to promote the primary production of agricultural crops in irrigated areas, to develop the rural economy, and to create a competitive, diversified, and sustainable environment by encouraging the production of local agricultural products. The objective of the program is to create the necessary conditions for effective agricultural production in rural areas, to increase soil fertility and productivity, to improve quality, to support the sustainability and flexibility of local producers, as well as to improve the management of processes on which their activities depend.

Program Implementer

The implementer of the program is the Rural Development Agency. The program is coordinated by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

Geographic Area of Program Coverage

The program will be implemented within the framework of the "Irrigation and Land Market Development Project" in target areas already provided with water by the rehabilitated Upper Rioni irrigation system and the G1-G32 distribution channels of the right main canal of Lower Samgori.
